CPFR installs Mobile Data Computers into apparatus

Crown Point Fire Rescue has placed into service five Toshiba Toughbooks into it's front-line fleet. These computers run Spillman, the computer-aided dispatch system used throughout the county. This system gives us flexibility in our dispatching and response. A few of the major components of the system include: call information, voiceless dispatching, mapping with hydrants, pre-plans, hazardous materials database, and messaging. These systems are also equipped with global positioning system (GPS) that allows dispatchers and other units to view where incidents and apparatus are on the map. This system will assure that the closest apparatus are responding to the right call and have the most up-to-date maps and information on what they are responding to and the dangers or issues they might encounter when they arrive.

Project Lifesaver - "Bringing Loved Ones Home"

How Project Lifesaver Works:
The program relies on proven technology and a specially trained search & rescue team. Lifesaver clients wear a wristband that emits a silent tracking signal. When caregivers call 9-1-1 and report a loved one missing, a search & rescue team responds to the area and starts searching with state-of-the-art tracking equipment. Using this technology, search times have been reduced from hours and days to within minutes. In over 1,800 searches nationwide, there have been no reported serious injuries or deaths, and recoveries average less than 30 minutes.
Project Lifesaver in Crown Point:
Started in 2008 following the tragic death of an Alzheimer's patient who walked away from a care facility. Currently, all Crown Point Firefighters are trained as Electronic Search Specialists.

How Much Does Project Lifesaver Cost?
Thanks to a grant from St. Anthony Medical Center, the $300 transmitters are provided at no cost, and only $10 monthly maintenance fee.

How To Enroll In Project Lifesaver:
To enroll a loved one, or if you have a question about Project Lifesaver:
